» Is gold really a good investment?

And how does one invest in gold?no. gold is a terrible investment. historically, the return on gold has been less than the return on long-term treasuries held to maturity. if you want to invest in gold, though, the easiest way to do that is through a ETF or ETN. GLD is probably the largest.Yes.Gold is only the best investment option. Buying gold bars is a good way to invest in gold. With bars you get more gold for your money compared to coins of the same size. The reason for this is when you buy coins you are usually paying a higher mark up for the manufacture of the coin. Bars are usually cheaper to manufacture than coins; that is one of the main reasons why bars are usually cheaper than coins. When buying bars it is important to ...... - 2010-03-15

» Luis Antonio Valencia

Ecuador M - Wigan (Premier) UPDATE: Ecuador international Luis Antonio Valencia notched two goals in the second half of Wigan's 2-0 win over Aston Villa on Saturday, which officially clinched Wigan a spot in the Premier League again next season. ANALYSIS: Valencia's goals also put a serious dent in Aston Villa's chances for qualifying for the UEFA Cup next season. Considering Wigan were in 19th place in the Premier League after 13 games, they have really done well to avoid relegation. POSTED: Sat, 03 May 2008 19:05:59 -0500...... - 2010-03-15

The first skyscraper (the Home Insurance Building) is built in Chicago, Illinois, USA (10 floors).Miller Brewing got its start in Milwaukee1885, year of one of the last military confrontations between 'white' men and Native Americans, (very last one was WOunded Knee, US, 1890.) at Duck Lake, in Alberta, Canada. 5,000 troops were sent, in probably the last such encounter in the British empire. The leader of the native-American revolt, Louis Riel, was captured and hung for treason. For reasons difficult to explain in brief, Louis Riel was at the same time proclaimed a tragic hero by the French Canadians, as well as Native-Americans....... - 2010-03-15

» Sales from website?

Like many of you, I offer prints for sale from my website. Following the advice of a number of books on the subject (which downplayed the usefulness of direct "click to order" buttons), my initial effort was to simply get the site up and running, taking payment by check or credit card via an indirect PayPal method (the customer sends me an e-mail with photo selections and information, and I send them back an e-mail receipt from PayPal allowing them to pay directly by credit card). Now, I am considering adding a set of direct PayPal buttons to each gallery page, so that visitors could simply click and order without having to go the e-mail route. I'm wondering how many of you have such a payment method on your sites, and whether your...... - 2010-03-15

I woke up this morning sick to my stomach. I vomited violently. I know have tons of red spots around my eyes and 1 purple spot under my eye. Are these permanent? How can i make them go away?? It is embarrassing. HELP!!!!!!No they're not permanent. It sounds like you have just burst some blood vessels due to you vomiting. The skin around your eyes is very thin and sensitive and can be damaged whilst your being sick just the same as you can burst blood vessels in your eyes.try putting a cold compress on the areas where you see the red. It won't make it vanish, but will speed up the time it takes to go away. It's happened to me before and it should look much better tomorrow....... - 2010-03-15

Where do you get your clientel from? did you start out with a studio, or in your home?To start out, take pics of your kids and family, and display them proudly! When people came into my home to visit or chat, they'd ask who did your children's pictures. When I responded that I did, one thing led to another. If you do a good job, everything else will fall into place. Granted, this also depends on if you're looking into doing this as a full time job or not. To get the clientelle to make photography a full time, good paying job, you need to advertise and get your name out there. Source: http://www.inthenews.co.uk/news/health/drug-resistant-tb-on-increase-in-uk-$1221153.htm Drug-resistant TB on increase in UK Friday, 02 May 2008 00:01 Drug-resistant tuberculosis (TB) is increasing in the UK, health experts have warned today. A report in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) says the rise is due to a changing population structure and ongoing migration. About nine million new cases of TB, an infectious disease caused by bacteria, emerge globally each year, resulting in nearly two million deaths. It is spread by close, prolonged personal contact to somebody with infectious TB. While anti-tuberculosis drug resistance is increasing globally, resistance to anti-tuberculosis drugs in the UK remained stable b...... - 2010-03-15

» Do "Messianic Jews" admit they're Christians?

if they do, they should make it clearer. if they don't, why don't they?Did you know that "Christ" is the Greek equivalent of "Messiah" ? To say you are Christian is to say you are Messianic. I have to disagree with the respondents who say that Messianic Jews are Jews. I am not aware of any branch of Judaism proper that recognizes them. Messianics identify themselves as Jewish, but that does not mean they are, any more than I would, as a Buddhist, be right in calling myself Christian if I used the Buddhist doctrine of rebirth to talk to people about being born again. In short, if the Jews are saying Messianics aren't Jews, then one would be wise to heed that. There is a great deal of condescension involved with saying...... - 2010-03-15

What could be wrong? She could be scratching her stomach on the floor; or, it could be more serious. If it continues, see the vet.If she drags her hind legs sporadically, then there is no probabilty of paralysis. It could be that she is scratching or massaging her underbelly. The user has correctly set the calendar to Fiscal Years beginning 1-October. The Project files all display according to Fiscal Year and Quarter. However, when the info is parsed and displayed on the Web the Fiscal Year is shown as starting on 1-January, thus incorrectly displaying task start and stop dates. » Bread Dough Recipe...help!?

Hey I'm a middle school science teacher and we are learning about density. I want to make a batch of dough to split into small balls to distribute to groups in the class to observe. They will be cutting it in half, measuring weight etc. I was wondering if there were any very simple recipes we could use and how long it takes for the dough to rise? We have heat lamps if that would help?Yeast dough takes 45-90 minutes to rise, depending on type. You could mix the dough one day, refrigerate it, and do the rising experiment the next day. A heat lamp will definitely help. I would practice this at home before doing it with a class. http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/databa... ??...... - 2010-03-15

Wondering if my car is moving already can I shift from D to 2 or L for more torque without damaging the engine and what about vice- versa (from 2 to D)? Which drive D, 2 or L is more fuel efficient if i am driving mainly uphills and downhills.? And finally it is true that the car will accelerate faster from a complete stop if I start at a 2 or L compared with D. And is this a good thing to do....An auto gearbox is meant to be automatic. I think you are talking about an older box, and having the lower gear shift positions in them was only ever intended for use if, for instance, you are going up a hill. Do all of your colour management and such in 16 bit but convert to 8 bit for printing.RAW images capture the image as seen without processing it. » Does Jelsoft recommend any dedicated hosting ISPs?

Hello, I was wondering if Jelsoft recommends any dedicated hosted ISP providers. I waslooking for a configuration such as about 40 gigs/month transfer rate, 512mb ram linux min. Or can any user here recommend me a reasonable yet reliable and responsive dedicated hosting service provider? thx.!Alot of people here reccomend VenturesOnline (http://www.venturesonline.com).Yeah most of the team here ('cept me :o) is on VO.Yikes! for 512mb ram/40 gigs bandwidth configuration the monthly cost is pretty high @VO. My budget is about $150-$175 / month. Any options then?Do you guys see any customizable plans on their site (vo)? Or else I'll shoot out an email to their sales.Try here for dedicated vBulletin plans http://www.safeservers.co.ukI wo...... - 2010-03-15

» What should I say to my mum.. re: Christianity?

Before I was around 8 years old we were a christian family, my mum taught at sunday school and my dad went to church every sunday etc.. However, when I was 8 my dad died very slowly and painfully from cancer. Now my mum refuses to believe in a God who would let a good man die in that way.. for no real reason. Now I am 15, I have decided I believe there is a God, but I'm scared for my mum who won't accept it and what she will think of me. Also, any real Christains who could explain why my dad could have possibly been left to die in that way please do. Thankyou.I think your dad's purpose was fulfilled. I believe it's the end times so another possibility was that maybe he wouldn't have been able to handle the ev...... - 2010-03-15

» Interesting Japanese Stories

I came across this site: http://www.kcc.zaq.ne.jp/dfeea307/ There are about 15 short stories that someone has translated and made into a very nice webpage. The stories have nice traditional music playing that you can switch on/off as you so desire. The stories are all different... and they are very interesting... some are good and creepy... some are revenge... and some are love... a good mix... I have read them all now... I haven't decided which is my fav though. I just got done reading the 'The Chamomile Grave' by Ito Sachio. I could not stop the tears flowing down my cheeks... it was that sad a story... it is the longest of all of them... you have to click the continued link three times to get to the ending... I would like to ...... - 2010-03-15

» Why do I feel nauseated?

Like my body feels hungry, but i don't wanna eat. It feels like my immune system is weak right now. I dont feel 100%. I just woke up like an hour ago (10.00 am). Went to sleep like at 1 am. I feel sick... I really think its my immune system, because I get this feeling like 3 times a month.... I feel weak What could this be?You may have a virus that keeps hanging on. Or, since you are feeling nauseated often, you might be suffering from low blood sugar. See if it happens when you haven't eaten for awhile. If so I would get it checked out. Mine drops and when I eat something that is a little sweet the nausea goes away. It's called hypoglycemia. There is also the possibility that you have mono....... - 2010-03-15

» Do you seek or fear silence (and darkness)?

Neither... as both seeking and fear are both "loud" (and "bright")!I am always amazed at the intellectual answers to the simple questions on this site. One can seek silence in order to connect to the strongest part of their reason for being here. Others may fear silence because they are not ready to listen. Hence the multi-task generation. If you stay busy you do not have to confront you thought of silence.....I personally seek darkness, as it is more calming for me, and of course, it helps me sleep. I enjoy sleep in all honesty. There is never true silence though, the way I think about it. Wherever we go, there will be some sort of ambient sounds. Even in a soundproofed room, you eventually pick up on your breaking and heartbeat. It is jus...... - 2010-03-15

» How do you become a zoo keeper?

What qualifications are needed? What needs to be done? Do i need past experiences working with animals? if so where? like farms, or just dog kennels etc. What else do i need to know? The most important thing for becoming a zookeeper is to gain experience with animals. Most zoos are more interested in this than in qualifications. I used to be a zookeeper and got the job without any qualifications other than G.C.S.E.s. Having higher qualifications is no guarantee of getting the job (my boss told me he's had people come in with degrees who didn't know which end an elephant craps out of!), and not having them is no guarantee you won't get the job. Volunteering at a zoo or animal sanctuary is a good way of getting that expe...... - 2010-03-15

» "Being in a Tornado Got Me Started Chasing"

I've just read a forum member's account of being in a tornado as a kid, and how that experience sparked his interest in chasing later in life. I wonder how many others here have a similar account. I know there are a few. As a child, you experienced a tornado "up close and personal," and the impression it left helped form you into the storm chaser you are today. What is your story, and how has it influenced you as a chaser?I was about seven years old driving to Grandma's house in a 1968 VW Bug. I was in the back with my early teenaged sister as a tornado touched down in the field on the driver's side of the car. Branches and grass was blowing across the road, dad was shifting like a fool trying to get out of there and my sister was scre...... - 2010-03-15

» SITE IS DOWN- forum.php????

Ok. I am not real familiar with where the .php files are supposed to be in my vBulletin Installation. I have 3.7.0 installed. Tonight I was in my ftp connection looking at the various files.....I don't know what I did to screw things up! Within my FTP connection, I did double click on the RIGHT side of my screen on two separate files. But I forgot which folders I was in! One was the "forum.php file" the other was the "vbadvanced_cmps_2_2_1vb3_6)_.zip" Then I tried getting into my site...and got an error: "the database has encountered a problem" So...I paniced and went back to the ftp...not knowing what to do....I dragged the forum.php from the LEFT side of my screen into the "/www/" file on the right side of my ftp.....but I don't k...... - 2010-03-15
